MIGUEL KASHAL, DIRECTOR GENERAL OF ARSP, PRAISES THE « MADE IN CONGO » INITIATIVE AT MINING ENGINEERING SERVICES
On the sidelines of the 19th edition of DRC Mining Week, which opened on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Pullman Karavia Hotel in Lubumbashi, professionals from the global mining industry gathered to participate in this grand event.
The event was marked by presentations, discussions, and exchanges of not only ideas but also business cards and services, ensuring excellent mining connectivity.
In this context, the Director General of ARSP, Miguel Kashal, visited the facilities of Mining Engineering Services (MES) on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
After a brief one-on-one meeting between Miguel Kashal and the Director General of MES, Hitesh Chug, the delegation was invited to tour two major MES facilities: Congo Piping and Congo Cables Transformers. The visit also included a stop at the state-of-the-art laboratory and the battery recycling center.
At Congo Piping, the delegation witnessed the assembly of HDPE pipe manufacturing machines, ongoing technical expertise in action, and the production of finished goods essential for liquid transportation systems.
Congo Piping, established at a crucial time, addresses the pressing demand for piping solutions, which has long been a challenge for many mining operators in the Katanga region.
The second stop of the visit was the Congo Cables Transformers (CCT) facility, where the delegation experienced the « Made in Congo » transformation of raw materials into finished products.
It is worth noting that CCT, established and inaugurated in 2022, was created to meet the electrical energy needs of mining companies through the production of copper and aluminum electrical cables, copper bars, conductor wires, and transformers, among other essential products.
Impressed by the advanced technology on display in Lubumbashi, Miguel Kashal expressed his thoughts:
« We just visited Congo Cables and Congo Piping. These are value additions that align with the vision of the President of the Republic, who aims to industrialize the entire country to promote internal consumption. This will ensure that the funds which previously left the country remain within. It will significantly contribute to the economic growth of the DRC. »
On this occasion, Miguel Kashal also encouraged mining companies in Katanga to source their transformers, electrical cables, and other products from MES. He emphasized that the company employs over 3,000 Congolese workers across its various facilities.
Amid loud applause, Miguel Kashal departed with his delegation, leaving behind a strong message of support for the « Made in Congo » initiative and its role in driving industrial growth in the region.
